Being established in 1952, the Taizhou Municipal Hospital (also known as the Municipal Hospital asso-ciated with the Medical School of Taizhou College, Taizhou Branch of Shanghai Huashan Hospital, as well as the Taizhou Huiming Hospital) is a non-profitable 3B hospital. As one of the key hospitals in Taizhou, it is a comprehensive hospital comprising diagnosis, treatment, quarantine, research and teaching. Further more, the hospital not only provides the house job for the Wenzhou Medical School, Jiangxi Medical School, Jiangxi Jiujiang Medical College and Zhejiang Medical Junior College, but also provides the hand on experience and compulsory courses to the post graduate students of the Wenzhou Medical School. In Dec 2001, the hospital became the first which acquired ISO 9001 Quality Certificate and ISO 14001 Environme-ntal Management Systems Certificate. It is also known as the Country-Level Child-Friendly Hospital, one of the first batches of Green Hospital in Zhejiang Province, and got Taizhou Civilization Unit.
    Now, there are 9 functional departments, 16 major clinical centers and 17 secondary clinical centers in the hospital. Hospital has 19 wards and 800 beds. Hospital has 1380 workers (830 of them are regular staff), including 29 Masters/Doctors, and 106 senior title owner.. In 2006, it provided service to 790,000 out-patien-ts and to 25,000 in-patients.
    Clinical practice and Achievements are Prosperity. The Departments of Ophthalmology and Otorhinolaryn-gology are the Municipal key departments. The Departments of Urology, Oncology and Laboratory are the Municipal supportive key departments. Otorhinolaryngology is the municipal key laboratory. Owning 7 district key departments (Ophthalmology、Otorhinolaryngology、Tumor Surgery、General Surgery、Pediatric、Orthopedics、Urology) and 7 Hospital key departments. Organ transplantation, Microtraumatic Surgery, Traumatology, Intervention of coronary heart disease, e t c remain the leading in Taizhou. In recent years, the hospital has won 3 scientific awards conferred by the Province. It has undertaken 11 different research projects for the country. Hospital equipped with 1.5TMR 16 - Slice Spiral CT, Excimer laser system, Sequoia B Ultrasound, automatic biochemical analyzer, Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometer, etc. The 30,000 M2 outpatient and 35,000 M2 inpatient departments are serving patients. As a modernized comprehensive hospital, Taizhou Municipal Hospital has a total medical equipments asset of 100,000,000 Yuan. A new hospital which covers an area of 133, 333 square meters will be constructed in recent years.
